New Route from East Midlands airport to Cork December 21 2009
bmibaby is celebrating this week after starting a new service from East Midlands Airport to Cork.
bmibaby aircraftThe inaugural flight departs from East Midlands today (Friday 18 December 2009). bmibaby expects to carry over 16,000 passengers on the route over the winter period.
bmibaby will operate up to five flights a week to the East Midlands on Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday making it a perfect destination for a weekend break or a longer trip. bmibaby is currently the only low cost carrier to offer flights from East Midlands Airport to Cork. This will make the south of Ireland more accessible especially with fares starting from just £24.99 one way including taxes and charges.
Cork is Ireland's third city and despite its size, it retains a country charm and a sense of intimacy. Highlights of the city include Cork Harbour, the second largest natural harbour in the world after Sydney and St Finbarr's Cathedral.

New routes from East Midlands Airport November 9 2009
On Wednesday, the airline launched its first flight from East Midlands Airport to Bydgoszcz which will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays.
On Tuesday, a flight to Rzeszow was launched, which will operate on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Laura McCormack, of Ryanair said: "We are delighted to welcome passengers on board its new twice-weekly service.
"Travellers in the East Midlands can now fly wih Ryanair to five Polish cities – Wroclaw, Krakow, Lodz, Bydgoszcz and Rzeszow."

bmibaby expands at East Midlands Airport September 18 2009
BMIBABY has announced a massive expansion to their operations from East Midlands Airport.
Three extra aircraft will be based at the airport and the airline will be serving eight new European routes.
These will be to Alghero (Sardinia), Barcelona, Bastia (Corsica), Cork, Dubrovnik (Croatia), Malta, Newquay and Venice.
At the same time the airline is increasing frequencies on key winter and summer routes, with the addition of Palma to the winter flying programme, and year-round services to Geneva and Prague.
The airlines’ capacity will increase by 40 per cent from the airport.
This will mean an additional 350,000 passengers will fly with the airline from East Midlands Airport next year, and an additional 2,872 flights will be operated by the airline in 2010 from the airport.

The news comes just days after easyJet announced its departure from the airport.
Bmibaby now offer 24 European destinations from East Midlands Airport.

bmibaby will operate a new summer service from East Midlands Airport to Newquay next summer Services will operate for the summer season between 28 May and 12 September 2010 on Friday, Saturday and Sundays.
Bmibaby to expand East Midlands Airport flights September 9 2009
Managers of East Midlands Airport have said they are confident about its future after a low-cost airline announced major expansion plans.
Bmibaby is to fly to eight new European destinations from the Castle Donington airport starting from December.
The routes are Cork, Venice, Barcelona, Malta, Dubrovnik, Newquay, Sardinia and Corsica.
The news comes after Easyjet said it was pulling out, as it could not see a "long-term future" at the airport.
'Future potential'
Bmibaby is also basing three additional aircraft at the airport as well as increasing flights on existing routes for this winter and summer 2010.
A new year-round service to Prague and Geneva is also being introduced.
Penny Coates, managing director of the airport, said: "It's really important for the long-term future of the airport.
"We've worked with bmibaby for a long time and as regional partners and I think it's fantastic that they have the faith in the East Midlands region for development as we do."

Jet2 announced it was moving to the airport from next spring.

LOW-FARE airline Ryanair has announced it is to begin operating flights between East Midlands Airport and the Canary Islands.
The flights are among 39 new UK routes being run by the airline.
The new connections from East Midlands Airport to Gran Canaria and Lanzarote will start in October.
Ryanair's Deputy Chief Executive Michael Cawley said: "Ryanair is delighted to open 39 new routes to and from the Canary Islands which will allow us to bring more low fares, more competition and choice to even more consumers."
Various new routes from East Midlands airport have been announced for the 2009 summer season. These include:
- Guernsey by aurigny.com, starting 1st May 2009
- Ameria, Spain, by bmibaby ( now operating)
- Mahon, Menorca, by bmibaby from 22nd May 2009
- Nice, by easyjet
BMI is providing connecting services from East Midlands Airport Brussels and then on to India, USA, Canada, and 60 european destinations, in association with Jet Airways and Brussels Airways.
bmibaby is introducing a new service to Prague in the Czech Republic, starting on 4 December 2009. There will be three services a week , Monday,Friday and Saturday.

Ryanair has started new summer flights to two new Spanish routes from East Midlands Airport .The budget operator, the largest airline at the Castle Donington airport, is running flights to Barcelona's Reus Airport and Palma.
